Last week, I asked a question, and a few of you answered. I wanted to know why you
support the Annual Diocesan Appeal.
I appreciate all who responded!
Some of you said you give simply because you feel blessed and want to give back as you
are able. I also heard from several people who have firsthand experience with Food
Pantries in their communities that receive grants from the Fuel and Hunger Fund, as well as
from one person who volunteers with Prison Ministry. Probably the most common response
was support for all the ministries supported by the Annual Diocesan Appeal.
One person wrote a response that, with his permission, I am sharing with you. Rick Rice
from Yorktown said:
I’ve pondered this since reading it yesterday and I think I’m ready to say simply that my why
is centered on what my Catholic faith means to me and how it has helped me deal not only
with the problems of life but with being grateful for what’s good in my life. I think of the
Eucharist, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the Saints and so many other aspects of this
faith and it gives me reason to give to that which just might enable someone else to
experience this faith similarly.
Yes, that’s definitely my why. Just as I can’t wait to share sunsets, sunrises, good books,
good movies with others, I pray that in giving, I might share even a piece of that which
brings me even greater joy.
Whether I ask a specific question or not, I always love hearing from you. Thanks for taking
the time to write and have a great weekend.
God Bless,
Margaret
