9/20/2024: B & B Back in Business
If there were a world record for hosting the most girl sleepovers in history, the Keightleys would hold it. Beginning in elementary school and carrying on into the early years of high school, my daughter and her friends had sleepovers every weekend. Every. Single. One.
More often than not, they happened here, on our third floor in “the sleepover room,” where there is a queen and bunk beds. When needed, we moved another queen mattress to the floor. It was two girls to a twin and five to a queen. Our record was 14 girls at one time, but it was usually between five and eleven.
I am waxing nostalgic because today (Saturday,) we are anticipating the arrival of 14 girls – that magic number – from W&L who will spend Saturday and Sunday nights with us so they can attend a music festival in Richmond. Sam will evacuate to stay at Cedarfield with his grandmother so we can have his bed. Even with that, we don’t have enough beds, but Catherine swears that they can still sleep two to a twin…we shall see.
However they work it out, I know it will be fun. And my husband and I will get to be the proverbial flies on the wall for this slice of college life that our daughter is enjoying so much. We are blessed, indeed, to reopen the Keightley B&B for such an occasion.
God Bless,
Margaret
