This week I simply want to say thank you to our veterans for your service to our country. I went up to our attic to look for this picture of my dad from the early 1940s, and I came upon his appointment certificate from 1946.
As a member of The Greatest Generation, he didn’t talk very much about his days in WWII. I know that he was in Okinawa as an occupation troop after graduating from VPI (now Virginia Tech.) He and most like him came back to America and moved forward with their lives, building a career and starting a family. They, like those who serve today, were heroes among us.
I hope all the veterans reading this message will feel honored and appreciated, on Monday and every other day. Thank you also to their families who serve alongside them.
God Bless,
Margaret Keightley
